Recently, our Client Care Manager in New Glasgow had the pleasure of visiting a very special client, Lawrence "Pie" MacNeill. He is a 94-year-old veteran (although he doesn't like to count birthdays anymore) and has been given the name "Pie" since he was 9 years old. Thank you, Pie, for your service, strength, and spirit!
Alongside Pie, is his lovely wife, Shirley. She describes one of our special caregivers, Kathy, as like a chosen daughter, and she is so grateful for the support Kathy provided.
This visit was extra meaningful as it was Kathy's last visit before she retires from 30 years of being a caregiver. Thank you to Kathy for your decades of dedication and heart, and thank you to Pie and Shirley for letting us be apart of your journey!
To celebrate Kathy’s incredible career, we asked her to reflect on her journey as a caregiver and highlight the qualities that made her so special. We learned that her care for others has led her to becoming a caregiver. What she cherished most about her job was the opportunity to support clients, so they could remain comfortably in their homes. Kathy's deeply empathetic approach to care is what set her apart. She would always put herself in her clients’ shoes, treating them with the same compassion and respect she would hope to receive herself. Known for her warm heart and sense of humor, Kathy believes in bringing joy and laughter into the lives of those she cares for.
This is the kind of moment that brings purpose to everything we do at Earth Angels Home Care. Thank you to our dedicated New Glasgow team for making this meaningful visit and sharing it with us.
