Government Funding Options

Home Support Direct Funding Program

The Home Support Direct Funding program is funded by the Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care and administered by Nova Scotia Health. To access this program, call Nova Scotia Health toll-free at 1-800-225-7225. A Continuing Care Coordinator will guide you through the process and answer any questions you may have.

The Home Support Direct Funding program supports eligible Nova Scotians with care needs by providing them with funding to purchase Home Support Services (personal care, respite, meal preparation, and light housekeeping.)

Supportive Care Program

You can apply for The Supportive Care Program by calling Nova Scotia Health Continuing Care toll-free at 1-800-225-7225. Once approved, the money will be deposited into your bank account by the Department of Seniors and Long-Term Care every month. All receipts for services must be submitted to Nova Scotia Health.

The Supportive Care Program supports eligible Nova Scotians with cognitive impairments (difficulty thinking, concentrating, remembering, etc.) by providing them with up to $1000/month for Home Support Services (personal care, respite, meal preparation and household chores). Under this program people may also be eligible to receive reimbursement for snow removal services up to $495/year.

Veterans Independence Program

Military Medal

The Veterans Independence Program provides annual tax-free funding for services such as grounds maintenance, housekeeping, meal preparation, personal care, and professional health and support services.
